Just a little bit… autistic

Knitting more spats
because I can
and I’m getting love by the bucketload on Ravelry.
Knitting with some funky multicoloured stuff
that i’d probably never wear (this pair is for sellin’)
but there is a small part of me,
a small, autistic part of me
that gets off on the patterns the colours make.

Every foot and shoe is different, and thus this pattern is very adaptable and forgiving - call it the vanilla version, good for boots and closed shoes (I’m working on a stiletto version that will be up soon). You may find you need to add or subtract rows for a perfect fit. Full Story »

Nightmare flashback

The Gatorade (can you believe it, my spellchecker knows that word) commercial just gave me a horrible flashback… anyone remember the Beep test? Where the sadistic sports teacher would put on a tape that made beeps, and you had to run to the other end of the basketball court before the next beep, and the first person to get out was regarded as a huge loser?

I hate running.

i must!

I must not shop at Borders just because they email me discount vouchers.

Domiknitrix –

Borders AU$45 ($34 with nifty coupon)

Amazon US$13.39

Even with shipping it wouldn’t have cost me even half as much. Bah!
Lesson learnt.

correction

Tom has kindly reminded me that this was not my first nun encounter. I have in fact encountered white and blue nuns in K-Mart. So we will have to call that my first black and white nun encounter. The score:

White and blue nuns: 2
Black and white nuns: 1

Anyone know the difference between different coloured nuns? Is it like different flavours? Different breeds? Do you have to collect them all?

As busy as a nun buying socks

Ok. Wow. Learning to hate June 30th. While the lot of you lucky things are counting down the days til you can claim your tax refund, I’m counting down the working hours left to complete all the projects that have suddenly been piled on me (never rains but it pours, huh!) that need to be signed off and paid up by the end of the financial year. This is going to be a looooooooong couple of weeks.

Had my first shift in a bar last Saturday. Scary, scary stuff.. though it was mostly the thought of it all that was so unnerving (oh, and finding out 10 minutes before I got there that that’s what I was going to be doing! Thanks Tom :P ). It began as a nice, slow, easy way to pay off my washing machine, aaand descended into chaos…. luckily there was a strong need for a glassy in the dying minutes of my shift…

I saw a nun today. A real one, in all her nunnery, in a discount store in the city. She didn’t look like a very cheerful nun. Shame my first nun-sighting had to involve a negative nun, she probably set the foundations for my opinion of all future nuns in my head.

Happy (minor decimal) birthday to me!

I’m a strong supporter for decimal time.

Decimal time is the representation of the time of day using units which are decimally related. This term is often used to refer specifically to French Revolutionary Time, which divides the day into 10 decimal hours, each decimal hour into 100 decimal minutes and each decimal minute into 100 decimal seconds, as opposed to the more familiar standard time, which divides the day into 24 hours, each hour into 60 minutes and each minute into 60 seconds.
Wikipedia

Happy minor decimal birthday to me - today I am 7500 days old.

I think the standard measure of time has become redundant. Case in point - it’s almost the middle of autumn, and do you Adelaidians see any leaves falling?… dead trees don’t count!

I’m a technology native (as opposed to an immigrant). I spend most of my daylight hours in an office, and although I’m one of the privileged few with a window,  I have to almost lean out of it to see the sky (and take in a big breath of fumes from a vent connected to I-don’t-want-to-know-what). A calendar in sync (yeah right) with the seasons is useless to most of us now. Sure, I have a garden, but I plant my tomatoes on a hot weekend when I’m free, not because my calendar tells me to.

The metric system covers everything from temperature to speed, why didn’t time make the cut?

presumption of functionality

Why is the colour of harmony orange?
I consider orange to be a rather hostile colour.

omg omg omg it’s RAINING!!!
never thought I’d see that again.. really!
I think it’s going to be a good winter.

Can’t watch tv when it’s windy :(

Today, found such happiness amongst all the sadness of nothing nice to wear - a book on how to knit dinosaurs that I’ve had my eye on for a really long time - reduced to $3!
But must finish some of the half-started stuff lying all over the place… purple skirt, cokkies and strawberry cream jacket, bat shawl, fishnets, pink elephant…
Yeah, pink elephant!

Woo

I wanna learn to crochet, but I don’t get it….

maybe that’s good… my to-knit list might explode..
but I’m keen to crochet some corn cobs out of corn wool.. kinda kitsch, ya know.

Back to work tomorrow. Blah.
